The Dead to Red I didn't run

This weekend I had the pleasure of heading down to watch and cheer on some kids/ fellow teachers/friends run a race called the "Dead to Red". You run from the the Dead Sea to the Red Sea. I was going to run but felt it wasn't smart. Good thing because I had a terrible sinus infection/cold this last week. But mark my words I'm running in it next year. The reason being. We had a terribly interesting and exciting time getting to the Red Sea/Aqaba.

The adventure begins with leaving our fair capital city at 4:30 AM. It was snowing. We figured once we got on the road we'd see the snow taper off. We had a horrible time getting onto the main road. A lot of people slipping and sliding around. We managed to get past a rest stop and continue on. But than a bunch of people got stuck. We waited till the sun came up. And than proceed to get up the hill. During that time we rolled down a window and that got stuck.

But it gets better. We made it up the hill and than we get a flat tire....yes a flat tire. Something wasn't right and we knew there was an issue. Come to find out there was no tire jack. We flag down some nice people and they help us out. It was interesting we gave them some cookies. Very nice people. They also fixed our window considering our front passenger was freezing before that.

But it gets better. As soon as we get to leave the car doesn't start. We don't have jumper cables either. Umm..excellent. We couldn't find anyone. But the same people that helped us with our tire helped us with our battery. They were very creative in that they didn't have jumper cables but did something which looked scary. They took their car battery put it on top of ours and got the car started.

We continue on. The rest of the way was fairly uneventful. Aside from speed bumps and coffee spills. The occasional wow look at the snow and than we finally made it.

The weekend will have to save for later but we made it and got to cheer one of the teams into the finish line.

And this is coming up....half marathon or 10 K...decisions
